Inspiring Kanha Tiger Reserve
The High Hall-marks of Kanha Tiger Reseve are, it is the Greatest Inspiration for the Famous Novel, ‘Jungle Book’ by Rudyard Kipling, it is One of the Best Tiger Reserves in the World, it is One of the Most Scenic Wild Life Reserves of Asia, it is One of the Best National Parks in India, etc.
Two Divisions
Covering as vast an area as that of 1949 sq. km, it is divided into Two Divisions, namely, Core Division and Buffer Division.  The Core Division, which is the National Park, has an area of 940 sq. km and it is surrounded by the Buffer Division  or  Multiple Use Area that has an area of 1009 sq km.  Nonetheless  both are under the control of Kanha Tiger Reserve Authorities.  Additionally there is Phen Wild Life Sanctuary or Satellitic Mico Core with an area of 110 sq km  which is also under the care of Kanha Tiger Reserve.  Kanha National Park came into being in 1955 while Tiger Reserve has been chiseled out in 1974.
Five Ranges
For  efficient management, the Reserve is divided into Five Ranges, namely, Kisli, Kanha, Mukki,  Bhaisanghat and Suphar. However the last Three Ranges are closed to pubic.
Location
Located among Banjar and Halon Valleys in Maikal Range of Satpura Hills of Central Indian Highlands in the Districts of Mandla and Balaghat of the State of Madhya Pradesh, India, 160 km from Jabalpur of  Madhya Pradesh and 270 km from Nagpur of Maharashtra State, it is world famous for its rich flora, fauna, etc.
It is open from 16 October to 30 June and is closed for monsoon from July to Mid-November.

Fauna
Its fauna comprises of Tiger, Chital or Spotted Deer, Swamp Deer or   ‘Barasingha’, Blackbuck,  Sloth Bear, Wild Dog, Jackal, Panther, Wild Pig,  Grey Monkey, Porcupine, Wild Boar, Indian Jungle Fowl, Leopards, Barking Deer, etc. 
Flora
Its Flora consists of  Sal Forests, Thick, Large Bamboo Forests, etc.
Local transportation.
For transportation within the large area of the Reserve the Madhya Pradesh Government Tourism Development Corporation has arranged jeeps.
Attractions
Its Main Attractions are Tiger Show, Museum, Bamni Dadar, etc.
Tiger Show or Elephant Ride
It is organized from Kanha Tourist Complex for an additional charge and under this Show you can sit atop and back of an elephant and can see Royal Bengal Tiger, other fauna, etc, of the Reserve in their natural surroundings.  It is very difficult to spot out tiger in any Wild Life Sanctuary, Tiger Reserve, etc, of India.  But the impossible has been made possible by Tiger Show or Elephant Ride of Kanha.
Kanha Museum
The Museum displays functions of the Park, Tribal Culture of Madhya Pradesh, etc.
Bamni Dadar
It is One of the Beautiful Sunset Points of India. Also you can see here Fauna like Swamp Deer, Indian Deer or ‘Sambhar’, Barking Deer, etc.
The Best Time to Visit
April to June and November to January.
